Nice read on President Obama’s daft choice of words about the Cambridge police officer for arresting professor Henry Gates.
In case you want my opinion… I don’t think it’s a big deal. Mr. Gates was tired from an international trip and it’s not unusual to be cranky when coming home. He didn’t get arrested for trying to break into his own home, he was arrested for berating the officer. The fact that Mr. Gates was released without charge shows the law wasn’t broken. It was just a perfect storm of a cranky man going up against a cop who wasn’t in the mood to put up with it.
The Cambridge police force fully support their officer, and even Mr. Gates said that he was glad his neighbors keep a watchful eye. It’s just one of those crazy things that happen.
What’s making this an issue is President Obama and his choice words. Why do people think he’s such a good speaker? He can be inspiring, but he doesn’t really have much content.
